PARISH MISSION STATEMENT

The Parish of the Holy Cross and St Helen is the Roman Catholic community of Ashton Under Lyne in the Diocese of Salford, sharing in the message and mission of Jesus Christ: to love God and our neighbour. As a parish we welcome all people, and by including all people we hope to extend the Kingdom of God.

Through our prayer and sacramental life, we are strengthened by the Holy Spirit to love and welcome others without judgement; both in our local community and throughout the world. The life of our parish is based on nourishing strong relationships between the lives of our churches, schools and families; flowing from our celebration of the Eucharist, which is the source and summit of our Christian life. We are called by Jesus to seek forgiveness and to forgive others, keep God’s name holy, do His will, and pray for the coming of His kingdom; and we look forward to His Eternal Glory. Our parish is dedicated to the Holy Cross, through which Jesus redeemed the world through his sacrifice and love for us. We are called to follow Him who is The Way, Truth and Life.

We see Jesus in others, especially the poor and disadvantaged, and offer love and help in His name to those in need. Under the patronage of St Helen, we seek to grow in love and, united in the Body of Christ, we hope to build up God’s kingdom on earth and fulfil our calling to heavenly glory for all eternity with all His angels and saints.
